Their scientific framework constrained their analytical process and synthetic conception of human as whole. Carl Gustav Jung made a breakthrough when he developed a psychological analytical framework which taking in to account mythology data and a lot of religious symbols in his scientific work. Formulating the Spiritual Intelligence (Spiritual Quotient [SQ]) is not solely based on observing the parallel of Western scientific outcome with Eastern mystical phenomenon. In reality, we are forced to interpret the spiritual metaphysical phenomenon based on physics and neural science, which generates more paradoxes than answers. This article discusses human inner structure base on Al-Quran then we will discuss which fundamental problems have direct relation with Jung’s theory and Spiritual Quotient’s status in this map.
2019-01-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Journal Of Tasawwuf Studies https://jurnal.paramartha.org/index.php/picts/article/view/14 Tashawwuf Harus Bersama Thariqah Mendudukkan Kembali Signifikansi Mursyid dan Salik Bagi Muslim Abad 21 2019-09-10T11:24:18+07:00 Alfathri Adlin mralfathriadlin@gmail.com
Whether we realize it or not, Muslims are tugged between the discourse of both modernism and post-modernism, then adopted it to ‘emend’ Islam as a religion to adjust according to the two discourses. In their everyday life, Muslims are trapped in the capitalist world, which defy them the time for them to be by themselves in their ‘leisure time’. They are also pre-occupied by the term of ‘protean human being’ as a result; they tend to forget their true self. From everything that happened surrounding the Muslim in today’s life, nobody can quench the thirst of knowledge for his or her soul, it helps shaping a new revival of interest upon religion. In the western world, which are famous with their famous belief, “religion no, spirituality yes,” The Muslim world has its own turmoil with their own saying, “tariqah no, tasawwuf yes.” In this article we will try to dissect the ground misconception between the two discourses and also within Muslims own beliefs, as they have forgotten the meaning of tariqah and what is the real meaning of a mursyid
2019-01-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Journal Of Tasawwuf Studies https://jurnal.paramartha.org/index.php/picts/article/view/15 Adakah “Agama Jawa” Itu? Tinjauan Kritis atas Buku Abangan, Santri, Priyayi dalam Masyarakat Jawa Karya Clifford Geertz 2019-09-10T11:34:16+07:00 Dwi Afrianti dwiafrianti1977@gmail.com
This critical review uses a combination of a historical approach, religious studies, archeological studies, cultural studies, Javanese mysticism and tasawwuf. A historical approach is necessary to see the zeitgeist within different time frames, which is needed to complement Clifford Geertz’s research. Then we can see the relations of each event within the concept of time and space, which would be the reason behind the emergence of a concept. Clifford Geertz did not generalize that one concept would be valid for each time frame in one occurrence. Unfortunately Geertz didn’t enclose historical analysis in his dissertation, resulting in confusion to define each of his concepts and terms
2019-01-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Journal Of Tasawwuf Studies https://jurnal.paramartha.org/index.php/picts/article/view/16 Autentisitas Hadits Menurut Al-Ghazali 2019-09-10T11:42:55+07:00 Kuswandani ad.daani2005@gmail.com
The majority of hadith specialists deem that hadith studies have not reached its end point, in which everyone would agree, and the study itself is still in continuous renewal. In this case, a sufi, on the one side is on the path of purgation in the spirit of ma‘rifatullah (the state of knowing Allah) by following the prophet’s way of life, doing it by following the hadith. And on the other side, a Sufi is seen by the hadith specialists (also by many Muslims in general) as someone who is following the prophet’s way of life by too easily quoting the hadiths, even the hadiths which according to the specialists are un-authentic. Here lies the contrast between the sufis and the hadith specialists, while in fact the sufis have tested the authenticity of the hadith through other methods. This discussion will focus on Al-Ghazali’s method on reviewing the authenticity of a hadith, the method then can perhaps be used to determine other sufis’ method in general
2019-01-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Journal Of Tasawwuf Studies https://jurnal.paramartha.org/index.php/picts/article/view/17 ‘Adalah Ash-Shahabat Ontologi dan Epistemologi ‘Adalah serta Berbagai Motif Aksiologisnya 2019-09-10T11:49:55+07:00 Saleh Rahmana salehrahmana@gmail.com
Sahaba was the first to carry on Islamic legacy and was meritorious for transmitting the teaching of Rasulullah saw who brought message and bear Islamic Phrophethood. Through the sahaba, started form tabi‘in, tabi‘altabi‘in, and the following generations—up until the current moment, we could get acquainted and experience Islamic existence; while on the contrary, without sahaba, it is difficult for us to imagine how Islamic teaching could reach us. However, what if the credibility of the sahaba, as the source of the Rasulullah saw’s teaching narration, is doubted? At this point, it becomes a complicated issue because it could raise various suspicions of the authenticity of the hadith (al-sunna) itself, and inevitably, also to Islamic practices—either partially or wholly—that have been embraced by the Muslims. How could we guarantee the authenticity of a hadith coming from a source (sahaba) whose credibility is questionable? This paper attempts to raise the theme of ‘adalah (credibility) of the sahaba from the viewpoint of ontological and epistemological ‘adalah judgment as well as the figures and axiological motifs underlying the emergence of ‘adalah issue
2019-01-01T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2019 Journal Of Tasawwuf Studies
